A Letter to Mom’s Two Sons

Dear E & C,

What happened recently was major for me and I want to share the experience with you. It reveals how to know God in our lives. I don’t know if you heard the whole story as to what happened to R. He rarely shares himself.  I know R and his family went to the wedding and partied. He didn’t have anyone to drive him home to get to work.  His job starts at 3AM.  I believe he saw the cop and pulled over hoping the cop would go by and not notice that he had partied. The cop noticed. R got very upset. His blood pressure hit 220 and thought he could refuse to take the Breathalyzer test legally but that wasn’t so. The cop handcuffed him and took him to the police station and the test was forced.

R was one point over the limit and because he originally refused, they doubled the fine and put him in jail for the night with $1,000 bail. R got a lawyer in the hope to get good advice for $4,000. The lawyer did show up at the hearing. By now R was in doctor’s care due to his blood pressure being sky high in addition to other symptoms. Other costs for two years $200 a month. The court hearing so far demanded no driving for two months, 2 years with a Breathalyzer in his vehicles if he tries to drive. The car won’t start if he has liquor on his breath and 2 years of training to overcome his problem.

R was relieved that he had friends at work and around home who are helping to get to work. When we talked he sounded quite relieved that he wouldn’t lose his job.

Hoping that things are working out in spite of what happened and ‘not to worry’ is impossible for me to do as his mom. I pray for all of you hoping God will meet your needs and bless you all.

I read three chapters in the KJV Bible daily to keep me out of trouble with people I meet on Internet who make false claims and there are many of them.

Addressing R: “When the DUI happened to you and you finally called me to pray for you to get the punishment down, I was reading Luke 15:11-32 which was a true blessing to me and I hope you take this serious as well. When we got baptized in water as you did you received the Holy Spirit. He becomes our teacher ‘solely’. He is the one who helped you and E reject the LDS church from the beginning. It was amazing to me and helped all of us to finally leave.

The Holy Spirit is whom people generally address as our conscience. The Holy Spirit reminds us when we are on the wrong course. That still small voice of His over time quiets down when we ignore it. My prayers for you have been to come home to yourself, the way you used to be when all was well, in other words, to overcome this influence you are under in order to end up well. These verses are what I was reading. It fit the situation to a “T” and that is why I’m sharing how Heavenly Father runs my life. I didn’t look for these Scriptures, but simply was there in my daily reading.

Luke 15:11-32And he [Jesus] said, “A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

“And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

“And he would faint have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

“And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

“And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

“And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

“And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. “And he answering said to his father,

“Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

“And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.”

“After I read this, the next day we had a little thunderstorm, I looked at the clouds to see how bad they looked and got a rainbow. That meant to me a message from Heavenly Father not to worry. You know how to conquer and you will win over this situation.

“In the Genesis account, a rainbow appears right after the great worldwide flood brought in order to remove sinful and evil-minded man from the earth. It symbolized God’s mercy and the covenant He made with Noah (representing mankind) not to destroy the world in such a way again.

Genesis 9:12 “And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: Genesis” 9:15  “And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.”

God runs this world. Satan works under God’s supervision until the coming Tribulation when God releases him and puts him in chains at the end. When we sin God has no recourse against Satan’s accusations and has to let the punishment happen. That is why God couldn’t answer my prayer to let you get away with it even though He answers most others.

R I love you with all my heart and hope you’ll be the son I remember you to be,  Mom

E I hope this will help you bear my anxiety for R’s trial in the hope with God’s help we’ll win.

All my love and hugs, Mom

PS:  R ended up getting the lightest sentence possible and E told me that R hasn’t had a drink since.  Praise the Lord !!
